Betty Jean Lawson

Betty Jean Lawson, age 67, of Mabelvale, Arkansas, fell asleep in death on Saturday, August 1, 2015 in Little Rock, Arkansas surrounded by her family. She was born in Manning, Arkansas to William and Zella Butler, the second of their seven children Betty grew up in Malvern. She had one daughter, Veronica, with her first husband James W. McNeely. Betty later married Robert B. Lawson they had a son, Jesse, and a daughter, Samantha, together. For the last 37 years, she has been one of Jehovah's Witnesses and was very active in teaching others about the Bible, serving as a full-time pioneer minister for almost 30 years. She even learned Spanish to expand her ministry to other countries. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, William and Zella Butler; her husband, Robert B. Lawson; and her sister Lucy Toatley. Betty is survived by her daughter, Veronica McNeely Turner of Jacksonville; her son, Jesse Lawson of Little Rock; and daughter, Samantha Lawson Gillip of Mabelvale; her granddaughter Briana Allen and grandsons Hodari and Amir Turner, all of Jacksonville; brother, Calvin Butler of Hot Springs; sister, Lois Moore of Jacksonville; sister, May Bob-Semple of Little Rock; brother, Ray Butler; sister, Darlene Butler of Beebe; as well as many loving nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held for Betty at the Malvern Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 609 Collie Street in Malvern, Arkansas, on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. Sign online guestbook at www.mooresjacksonvillefuneralhome.com.
