Charles "Charlie" Forsyth Brite, 84, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Cabot, Ark., went to be with his Lord and Savior Aug. 4, 2015. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family. Charlie enjoyed life and loved telling jokes and making others laugh. Charlie is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Auda Lee Davis Brite, his brother Tom (Olga) of Hampton, Va., daughter Regina Allen (Kenneth) and grandchildren Ross (Anna) of Richmond, Va., Tate of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sarah Foster (Teddy), three nephews, Tommy, Johnny, Ricky and Kerri (deceased) of Virginia and many cousins and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. Charlie grew up in Phoebus, Va. where he graduated from Hampton High School. His love of airplanes and everything related to aviation drew him to the Air Force where he served his country for 20 years as an Air Traffic Controller. After retirement he went on to a successful career as an Air Traffic Controller for the Federal Aviation Administration. Charlie was a member of First Assembly of God Church in North Little Rock, Ark. where he sang in the choir for 17 years. He attended Freedom Christian Church in Jacksonville, Fla. He was a long time member of the Kiwanis Club of Cabot, Ark. and received the Hixson Award for outstanding service to the club. Charlie loved serving his community and was recognized by the Arkansas Health Care Association as Volunteer of The Year and given the Random Act of Kindness Award for his many hours spent helping others. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, Ark., with the service commencing at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery, Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
