Bonnie Flannary Gipson

Bonnie Flannary Gipson, 87, of Springdale, passed away on August 15, 2015 in Springdale. She was born on April 15, 1928 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Wilson and Lois Flannary. She was the oldest of eight children. She graduated from Poteau High School in 1945. She picked cotton, thinned corn, picked potatoes and held many other jobs during grade school. After graduation, she married Tom Gipson who was in the Navy. After her husband's service in the Navy, they moved to McAlester, Oklahoma. She moved to South Carolina when her husband was offered a position with the Army. The Army took them to Chicago, Japan and many other areas in the country before they returned to Poteau, Oklahoma. Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one grandson, Shawn Gipson. She is survived by one son, Mike Gipson and wife Gayle of Pennsylvania; one daughter, Sharon Simmons; two brothers, Bill Flannary and wife Mary Kay of Tom Bean, Texas and Larry Flannary and wife Joan of Springdale, Arkansas; two sisters, Eva Flannary Smith of Sallisaw, Oklahoma and Diane Parnell and husband Jim of Flowery Branch, Georgia; three grandchildren, Craig Simmons and Martha of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, Traci Simmons of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Kacey Gipson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; as well as four great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Elmdale Baptist Church of Springdale. A gathering of friends will take place beginning at 10 a.m. at the church.
