Wendell Irvin Figgins

Wendell Irvin Figgins, 63, of Springdale, Ark., formerly of Stewardson, Ill., died Tuesday, December 22, 2015. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2015 in the Stewardson Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 206 W. Main St., Stewardson, Ill. 62463. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Sunday in the church. Burial will be at later date in Lower Ash Grove Cemetery, Strasburg, Ill. Memorials may be given to the Stewardson Seventh-Day Adventist Church or the family. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, Ill. Wendell was born on May 10, 1952 in Mattoon, Ill, the son of Irvin and Edna Fern Culver Figgins. He attended Mattoon and Stewardson-Strasburg grade schools and graduated from Broadview Academy in St. Charles, Ill. Wendell worked for Sloan Implement in Teutopolis, Ill and previously for F. E. Moran in Effingham, Ill. He also drove a semi for Risinger Brothers Transfer Inc. and farmed in rural Stewardson for many years. Wendell was a former member of the Stewardson Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He married Barbara Louise Hoffman on March 17, 1974, and she died on June 27, 2012. Wendell married Judy Taylor on October 7, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Judy Taylor Figgins of Springdale, Ark.; son, Matthew Figgins and wife Michelle of Stewardson, Ill.; daughter, Amber Gass and husband Shane of Maryville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Garrett and Grace Figgins of Stewardson, Ill. and Jonathon and Evan Gass of Maryville, Tenn.; brother, Wayne Figgins and wife Shirley of Stewardson, Ill.; mother-in-law, Ella Taylor of Gentry, Ark.; sister-in-law, Linda Syfert and husband Don of Gentry, Ark.; brother-in-law, Ron Soper of Springdale, Ark.; niece, Megan Syfert of Gentry, Ark.; and great-nephew, Camden Murphy of Gentry, Ark.
