Glenn Day Watkins Sr.

Glenn Day Watkins Sr., 89 of Springdale passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Veterans Health Care of the Ozarks. He was born April 1, 1925 in Larned, Kansas to Ernest Watkins, Jr and Eden Combs Watkins. Glenn was a long haul truck driver. He had a 39 year accident free record while driving for Fleming Foods. Glenn was a an avid golfer, bowler, racecar driver and fisherman. He enjoyed playing the guitar. He was active duty in the Marines during 1944-1946 in Okinawa and Guadalcanal. He was also a Purple Heart Recipient. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Watkins, his parents, one brother, Ernest Watkins Jr. Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Fox of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; three sons, Glenn Watkins, Jr of Springdale, Steven Green of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Jack Green of Wichita, Kansas; one brother, William Watkins and wife Jean of Wichita, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; Allesha Watkins Byrd, Ariana McKim, Brian Larsen, and Kristin Forster; 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, February 27, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale. Interment services will be Monday, March 2, 2015 at 1 p.m. in Penwell Gable Cemetery in Hutchinson, Kansas. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
