Mr. Charles "Bucky" Sharpe Jr., 73, formerly of Hope, passed away at his Marion home on January 5, 2015. Mr. Sharpe was born in Texarkana, Texas on November 25, 1941, to the late C.E. and Elizabeth Sharpe. He is retired from First National Bank of Hope, Ark. where he served as President and Vice-Chairman of the Board. While living in Hope for 42 years, Mr. Sharpe served as President of the Arkansas Jr. Bankers Association, member of the Arkansas Economic Education Board, member of Hope City Board of Directors (31 years), member of Hope Tourism Board, President of Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce, member of Hempstead County Industrial Foundation, President of the University of Arkansas Alumni Club, Vice-Mayor of Hope, Ark., Chairman FUMC Administrative Board, member of Arkansas Bankers Association, member of Hope High School Band Parents Association, President of the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope, board of directors member for Medical Park Hospital, and member of the Hempstead County Hunting Club. Upon moving to Marion, he was a devoted member of Marion United Methodist Church, served on the board of trustees, and enjoyed working with the youth. He also enjoyed educating Arkansas students about alligators and alligator snapping turtles. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas class of 1965, and the SMU Graduate School of Banking. He was a humble, devoted, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all that knew him. He was survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane Elrod Sharpe, of Marion; two children, Charles Sharpe III and wife, Kimberly, of Fayetteville, Elizabeth Gill and husband, Rick, of Marion; one sister, Sandra Heister and husband, Peter, of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Jonathan and Meredith Gill, Brennan and Lauren Sharpe, and many friends and family members. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Marion United Methodist of Marion or to the charity of your choice. Visitation will be held at Marion United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. with services immediately following at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015. Burial will be in Hope, Arkansas.
