Herbert Bornhoft

Herbert Joseph Bornhoft, 92, of Weiner, a lifelong farmer and family man, passed away peacefully in Jonesboro on Sunday, January 11, 2015. Know by many as Herb, he was born April 10, 1922 in Lyn, MO to Joe and Amelia Bornhoft. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ida Jane Bornhoft; four brothers, and a special friend, Jean Rueswald. He is survived by three children, who loved him very much, Mike (Judi) Bornhoft of Jonesboro, John (Leigh) Bornhoft of Little Rock and Darla (Mike) McDermott of Weiner; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jenny Stoner of Helena. He moved from Lyn when he was seven years old and settled in Weiner. He graduated from Subiaco Academy and was a WWII veteran. He bought his farm in 1946 after returning from the war. He loved to farm and bowl. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the choir. He played cards with the Monday Night Social Club and loved to fish when the weather was good. He was on the board of directors of the Federal Land Bank and a member for over 20 years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Razorback fan. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Weiner. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Weiner. Pallbearers will include Tyler Barker, Brandon Walker, Brian Stoner, Bill Stoner, William Bornhoft and Greg Bornhoft. Lasting memorials can be made to St. Anthony's Church in Weiner or the Weiner Fire Department. Services by Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
