Ernie William Jones

Ernest William Jones, age 88, of Council Bluffs, passed away at his home, July 2, 2015. He was born on Feb. 13, 1927, in Custer, S.D., to the late Valda and Elizabeth (Rutzel) Jones. Ernie was a Navy Veteran of WWll, and served on the Bunker Hill Aircraft Carrier. He married Lynda "Lyn" Robinson, on Oct. 9, 1980. Ernie owned and operated Precision Tool and Die and Tri State Manufacturing in Council Bluffs. Ernie and Lynda moved to Lowell, Ark. in 1982, then bought the Hickory Creek Marina in 1985, and operated it until the year of 2001. Hickory Creek Marina after they moved to Lowell, Arkansas in 1985-2001. In addition to his parents, Ernie is preceded in death by his son Gunner "Gary"; brother Bob Jones; sister Vi Wilson; and two infant sisters and one infant brother. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Lynda "Lyn" Jones, of Council Bluffs; children Terry and Betty Jones, of S.C., Jody and Todd Frain, of Treynor, Iowa., and Steve and Kristi Clawson, of Underwood, Iowa.; grandchildren Jordan (Lana) Frain, Austin (Jessica) Frain, Tanner (Sami) Frain, Cameron, Bryce and Chloe Clawson, Andrea Fordd, Billy (Alicia) Jones, Terry Dean Jones and Sarah Jones; 11 great-grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Visitation with the family present, on Monday, July 6, 2015, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. The family will direct memorials, in memory of Ernie, to his favorite charity.
