Jane Piazza died on Monday, July 13, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville after a long period of illness. She was born on August 1, 1934 in Toledo, Ohio, the only child of Duane and Eva Norby (nee Vallentyne). She graduated from Perrysburg H.S. in 1952 and from Oberlin College with a BA degree in 1956. After teaching for several years, she married John Piazza in June, 1961. After moving to New Jersey, she continued teaching until giving birth to three children in 1963 to 1966. Later she served as Tax Collector for East Amwell Township. In 2007 Jane and John moved from the Sourland Mountains of New Jersey to the Ozark Plateau in NW Arkansas. Through the years, Jane enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling and gardening. Her climantis, coreopsis and crape myrtle live on. While living in Arkansas, Jane was a friend and supporter of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fayetteville. Family survivors include her husband living in Bethel Heights; a son, Eric living in Metairie, La., married to Dr. Diane Fialla; a daughter, Anne living in Glen Gardner, N.J., mother of grandchildren Matthew, Tom Morris and Jack Morris; a second son, Leonard living in South Lake, Texas, married to Leticia Nunez, Esq., parents of granddaughter, Jacqueline; and nephews, Bruce and Douglas Piazza. Jane was a loving, thoughtful, capable and unselfish person. We suggest that any contemplated gifts in her memory be given to the WWHH or other similar facility.
