Cherri Lee Oberhelman

Cherri Lee Oberhelman, 76, of McKinney, Texas, passed away Tuesday, July 7. Cherri was born December 11, 1938 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to J.B..Bowers and Donnah Cox Bowers. She was a graduate of Heidelburg High School in Germany and attended Washburn University. She married Kenneth Alan Oberhelman on September 3, 1960 and resided in rural Topeka until 1995 when the couple retired to Bella Vista, Ark. Cherri enjoyed her retirement immensely, spending much time with friends and family, as well as traveling with her husband. She was active with her many friends in quilting and painting, and enjoyed these friendships as a member of The Calico Cut-Ups, The Famous Painters, Stitch N Bitch, and the Welcome Club. Additionally she enjoyed being part of the Natural State Model A Club with Kenneth. Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Kendall and Kimberly Oberhelman of McKinney, Texas and Don and D.D. Oberhelman of Avila Beach, Calif.; two granddaughters, Kassidy and Karly of McKinney, Texas; and her brother and sister-in-law, J.B. and Sharon Bowers of Scottsdale, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Kenneth in 2009. Cremation is planned. A graveside memorial celebration will be held August 10 at 9 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka.
