Barbara Louise Woodson-Tyree

Beloved mother, sister and friend, Barbara Louise Woodson-Tyree, age 65, of Black Rock, Ark., passed over at 7:41 p.m., Feb. 21, 2015 with her loving daughters, Dawn, Kelly and son-in-law Cecil by her side at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. Barbara was born on April 13, 1949 to Wesley and Cora (Tyree) Woodson of Black Rock, Ark. She loved adventure and challenge, even as a young girl. She believed in making the most of this life. Barbara graduated from Black Rock High School class of 1967, and afterward, moved to Kansas City. Her medical education journey started with her LPN degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center (Kansas City) in 1969 and later using the bridge option program, earned her RN degree at Arkansas State University in 1973-1974. She was a dedicated Dermatology RN at University of Arkansas Medical Services with rotations in other fields. Barbara was an artist by heart with many interests in photography. This led her to become certified in retinal angiography in the field of ophthalmology from 1983 to 1990. She owned SJ Designs, Inc. and became a self-taught creative embroidery designer of skydiving attire. All the while, she was an avid skydiver and scuba diver. In 1994, Barbara participated in the skydiving nationals in Eloy, Ariz. She did a flat base jump out of a hot air balloon followed by a single jump and tandems with both of her daughters out of a Douglas DC-3, all with a record 66 other skydivers. She was the winner of a national "Got Milk" advertising campaign with a photo of herself skydiving, smiling and wearing the iconic milk mustache in People magazine. Barbara is survived by her cherished daughters, Dawn M. Cranford and husband Cecil of Beebe, Ark. and Kelly P. Kelley of Basehor, Kan.; her grandchildren, Taryn M.E. Stubbs of Beebe, Ark. and Kanyon L. Edwards of Basehor, Kan.; her dear siblings – sisters, Thelma Jeanette Crosslin and Nancy (Fred) Pickney of Black Rock, Ark.; sister, Anita Sue James of Kansas City, Kan.; brother, James (Diane) Woodson of Imboden, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Woodson (belated John) of Heber Springs, Ark. and Jane Woodson (belated Tom) of Omaha, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews. Barbara is preceded in death by both her parents, Wesley and Cora (Tyree) Woodson of Black Rock, Ark.; brother, John D. Woodson of Heber Springs, Ark.; sister, Ella A, (Woodson) Wilson; brother, Thomas E. Woodson of Omaha, Neb.; brother-in-law, Claude H. Crosslin of Tampa, Fla. and brother-in-law, James A.
