Donald Joseph Martin, 74, of Cherokee Village, Ark., passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at his home. Don was born to the late Joseph and Marcella (Simmons) Martin on May 8, 1940 in Traer, Iowa. After proudly serving in the U.S. Army, Don married Evelyn Ruth Lesikar on Jan. 4, 1963. Along with his wife, Don was a long time resident of Lakewood, Colo. where he owned several restaurant and lounge establishments. He retired to Cherokee Village, Ark. where he enjoyed selling boats on the weekends for Midlake Marine Sales. Don was an avid lover of boating and the outdoors and always loved to travel, especially to Maui, Hawaii where he took his family many times. He loved movies and playing Cribbage, had an amazing sense of humor, was always up for good conversation and he loved to laugh, tell jokes and just have a great time. Don was a loving husband, wonderful father and true friend to all who knew him. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 28 at the Wortham Funeral Home, Oak Hill Chapel, 3079 Hwy. 62-412, Highland, Ark., 72542. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, www.lung.org. Don is survived by his wife of 52 years, Evelyn Martin of Cherokee Village, Ark.; his daughter, Deborah Curry and her husband Todd Curry of San Diego, Calif.; his brothers, Richard Martin and Robert Martin of Traer, Iowa; his sister, Marjorie Vohoska of Scottsdale, Ariz.; many nieces and nephews; numerous great friends in Arkansas and Colorado; and by his dog, Rusty.
