Darrell Barnes

Darrell Truman Barnes, age 83, of Mabelvale, was taken from us to become a soldier in God's Army on May 6, 2015. He was born May 28, 1931 in Quitman, Arkansas. Darrell was preceded in death by his mother and father, Willie Emma and James Vernon Barnes; sisters, Juley Permenter, Willie Tarkington & Emily Barnes and a brother, George Barnes. Darrell was known as "Sarge" by his family and friends. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1969. Darrell was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Army, "Sarge" spent the next 35 years in the automobile business working for Warden Motors and Bale Honda as a sales representative. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Barnes and his son, Wade Barnes. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 14 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at North Little Rock Veterans Cemetery. Bro. Kim Hammer will be officiating.
