Juanita Terry Jackson, 87, of Little Rock passed from this life on May 26, 2015. The oldest of eight children, she was born on December 4, 1927, in Des Arc, Arkansas. Her parents were Frank Taylor Terry and Vida Welch Terry. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Smith Etheredge and her husband, Robert, and Mary Smith Wagner; her grandchildren: Kimbra Wagner, Steven Wagner, Jenny Brown Bradford, Benjamin Brown and Jonathan Brown; seven great-grandchildren ; and her sisters: Mary Jordan, Julie Goodnight and Kay Terry. Juanita attended school at Johnson Chapel. She later married Herbert Andrew Jackson in 1956 and became a homemaker. They lived in Little Rock with her two daughters. Juanita was an active member of the Jaycettes where she served as chairman for numerous events, and she was involved with the PTA for Joyce and Mary's school. A Christian with a strong faith, she was an avid Bible reader. She tucked away verses all through her home. She loved to golf and tried to get a round in whenever she could. Juanita was known for her convertible Cadillac with golf clubs in the trunk or back seat. Juanita was quite the accomplished golfer, winning several championships throughout her life. She tried to pass her love of golf on to her grandchildren, but the fact that she liked to walk the course was a real strike in the kids' eyes. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joys of her life. She spoiled them every chance she got. She was able to pass along her love of sweets to them all. She always had sweet treats stocked for when the kids came to visit. She spoiled her pets too. Buddy, a stray that she took in, lived better than most. It is an understatement to say that Juanita had a green thumb. Plants and flowers that withered and died elsewhere thrived under her tutelage. She always seemed to know what to do make it come back better than ever. Juanita had a rare gift for taking care of everyone else. Everyone who knew her would tell you that she was the strongest person they knew. She cared for her husband, Herbert, the final years of his life as he was bedbound: an around-the-clock job that she carried out tirelessly, without complaint. She will be greatly missed by her family. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2015, at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. – 12 noon Monday at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. 72211, (501) 224-8300. Her online guestbook may be signed at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/chenal.
