Alvin Gordon Schmitz Jr.

Alvin Gordon Schmitz Jr., age 71, of Austin went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 30, 2015 in Austin. He was born November 12, 1943, in Keevil, Arkansas to the late Alvin Gordon Schmitz Sr. and Margaret Keith. He was a loving and caring father and grandfather. Alvin retired from a career in trucking with AMPI. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. Alvin is survived by one son, Danny Schmitz and wife Terri of Beebe and two step-children, Melissa Smith of Cabot and Gary "Bud" Gray of North Little Rock; four grandchildren Jessica Crump and husband Nathaniel, Dakota and Cheyenne Hagar and Erica Stephens and a host of other friends and family. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday September 2, 2015 at Mount Zion United Methodist Church 4259 Mt. Tabor Road Lonoke, Arkansas; Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday September 1, at Thomas Funeral Chapel, 713 S. Second, Street Cabot, Arkansas.
