Kathleen B. Johnson, 92, died on September 10, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Bernice and Barney A. Bell and was born near Pittsburg, Texas, on March 24, 1923. Her parents brought her to Lincoln County in 1925 and she resided there until her death. She was the last surviving member of the 1939 graduating class of Grady High School, of which she was valedictorian. She was a homemaker except during World War II, at which time she worked for the Corps of Engineers in Little Rock. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church at Gould, having served as secretary-treasurer of the Ladies' Auxiliary for many years, as well as church treasurer for several years. She was also a member of the Gideon International Auxiliary and the Grady Lions Club. However, the real joy of her life was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother—always loving unconditionally, exuding the love of Christ, her Savior. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, R.C. Johnson; two sisters, Talmadge Conway and Ruth McLemore Newton; two step-brothers, Harold and Clyde Venable, and one grandson (Phil Johnson, Jr.). She is survived by three children, Patricia Partridge of North Little Rock, Paul Johnson of Star City, and Phil Johnson of Monticello; two step-brothers, Robert and Leonard Venable, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church, Dumas, Ark., on Sunday, September 13, at 3 p.m. Visitation will precede the service at 2 p.m. Griffin Funeral Home of Dumas will be in charge. Burial will be in Dark Corner Cemetery. Bro. Dubs Byers and Bro. Jim Smith will conduct the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Gideon's International, P.O.
