Lawrence D. Puryear

Lawrence D. Puryear, 83, went home to be with the Lord on April 1, 2016 at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville. He was born Oct. 17, 1932 in Spring Valley, Ark. to Robert and Ola Sanders Puryear. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Max M. Puryear. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Willie Ann Sutton Puryear and two daughters, D'Ann Whittle (Rick) and Vicki Satterfield (Keith); four grandchildren: Morgan and Samuel Satterfield and Chris and Josh Whittle; three great-grandchildren: Seth, Caleb, and Leah Whittle. He is also survived by his twin brother, Lester G. Puryear Lawrence graduated from Huntsville High School in 1951 then served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman in the Korean Conflict for two years. In 1956, he married his wife of 60 years, Willie Ann Sutton. He was a farmer all of his adult life. Lawrence was an active member of Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School for 40 plus years as well as served as a deacon for 30 years. Lawrence was loved and respected and will be missed by family and many friends. Pallbearers are Chris Whittle, Josh Whittle, Mike Puryear, Chad Puryear, Kent Mason and Jerry Hamm. Honorary Pallbearers are Gene Grigg, Earl Grigg, Dave Hollis, Craig Kirby, Gus Kirby, Eddie Sutton, Chuck Mason and Fred Sutton Visitation is Tuesday, April 5 at Sisco Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. in Springdale. The Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 6 at the Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Eldon Bagwell officiating. Burial will follow at the Burkshed Cemetery.
