Homer Darrell Schmidt
Homer Schmidt, 87, died Sunday at the Unity Hospital in Searcy. He was born in Judsonia on March 19, 1929 to Homer William and Violet Lucille Perna-Schmidt. Homer was a member of the World Wide Church of God and studied under Hubert W. Armstrong. He was a self-made man who had many titles in his lifetime. Homer owned and operated many businesses including: produce, trucking, rock masonry, and auto sales with a salvage yard and real estate. Homer loved living in Judsonia near family and friends. He never met a stranger and helped many people along his way. Homer was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather.
Survivors include his son, Michael Schmidt; daughters, Pamela Schmidt and Patricia Thomason; a brother, David Schmidt; sisters, Gloria Treat and Venita Whitener; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Schmidt; a son, Larry Schmidt; daughter, Penny Schmidt-Briggs and his parents.
Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. Services will be Saturday, August 13, 2016, 2 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob. Interment will follow in the White County Memorial Gardens. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
