Arnold Lee Blankers, 86, of Springdale and formerly of Crossett passed away Monday, August 15, 2016. He was born August 10, 1930 in Lynden, Wash. to Gerrit and Gladys Stuurman Blankers. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Gerrit Lee, and daughter Georgia Marlene. Arnie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marlene Georgia Blankers; sons Lee Blankers and Dr. Christian Blankers (Kendra), all of Springdale; and grandchildren, Ellie, Baron, Gerrit, Cole, and Lillie. He is survived by a daughter, Janice Blankers and a son Arnold Blankers (Dianne) and grandchildren, Rachel and Aaron. He is also survived by four siblings, Glenda Polinder, Peter (Gigi) Blankers, and Helen (Peter Wayne) Plagerman, all of Lynden, Wash., and Gary (Maggie) Blankers of Lenexa, Kansas. Arnie served in the United States Army. He worked most of his life in the plywood industry, finishing the last 20 years of his career as plant manager. He retired from Georgia Pacific in 1995. Although he oversaw hundreds of employees, he knew almost all of them by name and took an interest in their families. He is remembered for his sense of humor and keen interest in learning new things. He was an avid reader and loyal Razorback fan. A memorial service is being held at the Robinson Avenue Church of Christ in Springdale on Friday, August 19, at 10 a.m. Online condolences may be shared at www.WestfieldChapel.com.
