Billy Dean ("Bill") Massey, age 82, of Maumelle, Arkansas, passed away on December 6, 2016. He was born on January 31, 1934, in Beebe, Arkansas, the only child of William and Elvie Massey. He was of the Methodist faith. Bill was preceded in death by his parents: a son, Dean Massey; and a grandson, Zackery Massey. He is survived by the love of his life, Karen Massey; his son, Mark Massey (Tammy); grandchildren, Joshua (Stephanie), Shane, Dylan and Cheyenne Massey, and two great-grandchildren, Brody and Kylie Massey. He is also survived by his extended family: step-sons, Todd Gravett (Stacy) and Kevin Gravett, and their children Chase, Olivia, Anna, Parker, and Corbin Gravett, along with close cousins and other extended family and friends. Bill was a graduate of Beebe High School and AR State Teachers' College (now UCA), where he attended on a football scholarship. Upon his college graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force for two years and then embarked on a varied work/life career that included teaching school, sales in several areas, and his alternate life as a DJ in central Arkansas & the Memphis area. He began the music/DJ program for Parents Without Partners and was very active in that organization for many years. Bill also LOVED fishing and fished in many bass tournaments all over the south years ago. He continued to pursue his love of fishing….and hunting, on a smaller scale…until recent months, when his health declined. He and Karen loved to dance, and went often…until his mobility issues also forced them to give up that activity. Bill was an original…a one of-a-kind guy: you either really liked him, or you really didn't! And he was OK with that! There will, certainly, never be another "Massey", as he was called by many of his friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel, 5509 John F Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock (501-791-7400), with burial to follow in Massey Cemetery, Highway 64-West, Beebe, Arkansas. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 7, from 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home. "I'll see you again….this is not where it ends!" Online Guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/owens.
