Dorothy Jean Higginson- Rogers

Dorothy Jean Higginson Rogers of Newport, age 93, died Tuesday, December 13, 2016. She was born November 27, 1923 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late W.C. Higginson and Eugenia Stallings Higginson of Blytheville, Arkansas. She lived in Newport most of her life, devoting her time to raising her children, golfing and playing cards, Bridge and Canasta. She worked at Castleberry School and the Jackson County Courthouse. She was a member of the Newport First United Methodist Church, the Eva Rush Guild, and the AEA and NEA. In 2012 she moved to Austin, Arkansas to live with family and then to Southridge Village in Cabot in 2015. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and was the last of her generation. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James H. Rogers. She is survived by her children, Jeanie Blackburn (Charles) of Austin and Andy Rogers (Susan) of Edmond, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Sarah ( Matt) Harden, Kyle ( Sarah) Blackburn, Billy Rogers, Rebecca Rogers and Carrie Blackburn (Cameron) and seven great-grandchildren, Lillian, Katherine, Wyatt, Ian, Carson, Eli and Abby. Visitation will be Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow on Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel with interment following at Mt.
