Donald Ray Turner, 76, of Lowell passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 at his home. He was born Oct. 1, 1940 in Houston, Texas, to Daniel and Clarice Bundick Turner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy; worked as a deckhand on a tugboat for Parker Brothers for 22 years; he brought joy and always had a good word for anyone he met; loved the ocean; and loved woodworking. He is survived by a daughter, Jean Generau of Lowell. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, 2016 at Beard's Chapel with Michael Cooper officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Beard's Chapel.
