Margaret Ann Banks

Margaret Ann Banks, age 90, of Malvern, died Saturday, December 17, 2016 at her home. She was born in Cairo, Illinois on August 12, 1926 to the late Fred Lewis Fox and Marie Clanton Fox. Reared and educated in Illinois, she had been a resident of Malvern since 1949, when she and her husband, John Banks, opened the Food Center. He preceded her in death in May of 2000. Margaret Ann was a member of First Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday School, and performed with the Silver Belles, a ladies choral group. She is survived by her son, Bob Banks, of Malvern; by a brother, James "Jim" Fox and his wife Ruth, of Knoxville, Tennessee; by three grandchildren, Kristin Womack and her husband, Tommy, Scott Banks, and Matt Banks and his wife, Hannah, all of Malvern; by a great-granddaughter, Tateyn Womack; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret Ann was also preceded in death by a son, John Norris Banks, Jr., and a granddaughter, Lauren Banks. Her funeral will be held in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church on Wednesday afternoon, December 21, 2016, at two o'clock, with Dr. Verne Wickliffe officiating. Interment will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home. A visitation will precede the service, beginning at one o'clock. Pallbearers are: Matt Banks, Scott Banks, Tommy Womack, Tye Clem, George McClure, and Frank McClure. Honorary pallbearers are Don Patrick and Lloyd Thornton. The family extends their profound gratitude to Margaret Ann's loving caregivers, Cookie Cannon and Bonnie Adams.
