Daniel "Bryce" Briggs, 19, of Royal, Ark., went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2016, surrounded by family, friends, and the caring staff at Arkansas Children's Hospital. He was born October 6, 1997, in Hot Springs, Ark. He is survived by his parents Scott and Tabbitha Briggs of Royal; his two brothers, Brad Briggs and wife, Shaina of North Little Rock, Tyler Briggs of Conway; his grandmother, Linda Wesolowski and husband, James of Malvern; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill Briggs Sr. and wife, Juanda of Bigelow; and great-grandparents, Daniel Buie and wife, Linnie of Malvern. Bryce graduated from Lake Hamilton High School in 2016, where he was a 13-year senior. He started playing team sports at the age of four and played on numerous competitive and traveling teams until high school, where he played varsity football and baseball grades 10-12. In 2015, he received All-Conference 6A South defensive back, All Garland County defensive back, and Lake Hamilton High School Baseball Most Versatile Player. He was also a two-time All-Conference 6A South baseball player and hit for cycle his senior year. He was an original board member of the Lake Hamilton Bassin' Wolves fishing team where he finished top ten in the state tournament qualifying for the regional tournament in Shreveport, La. this past year. He took many AP classes and graduated with honors as well. He was very involved with the Oaklawn Baptist Church youth ministry and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was also active in his community where he volunteered with the Arkansas Forestry Commission, Jackson House, Special Olympics Fishing Derby, Relay for Life, and Lake Hamilton youth football camp. He recently finished his first semester at Arkansas Tech University majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a GPA of 3.06. He was an avid hunter and fisherman that respected wildlife. His friends considered Bryce to be an all-American guy without a speck of arrogance. He was a team player in all aspects of his life and never wanted anyone to feel left out. His mission in life seemed to be of service to his fellow man through genuine friendship and constant consideration of other people's feelings. To know Bryce was to love him. He loved his family, friends, and girlfriend of two years, Darby Dunn, very much. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Davis-Smith Funeral Home in Hot Springs. Funeral services will be Thursday, at 10 a.m. at the Wolf Arena at Lake Hamilton Schools in Pearcy with Bro. Keith Tarkington officiating with graveside ceremony immediately following at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In honor of Bryce, his parents have established a benefit account to help those in need.
