Orvil M Knopp

Mr. Orvil Knopp, 100, of Newport went to be with his Lord Tuesday, December 27, at Lindley Nursing Home. He was born January 11, 1916, in Deckerville, Arkansas, the son of Bailey Elmer and Virginia Ann (Perrin) Knopp. Mr. Knopp retired from Arkansas Power and Light after thirty years of service. He was a seventy year, 32nd degree Mason and was active in Eastern Star. He enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting at an earlier age. He was of the Baptist belief and a deacon for many years. He will surely be missed by all who knew him. Mr. Knopp was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice (Roden) Knopp, on December 2, 2015; one son, Joe Phillip Knopp; one daughter, Julia Frances Stoner; one brother, Virgil Glen Knopp; four sisters, Thelma Hetcliff, Leota Carter, Sylvia Winfrey and Edith Velma Jackson; two grandchildren, Sidney Knopp and Tawnya Johnson. He is survived by two sons, Orvil Maurice Knopp Jr. and wife, Edelgard, of Conway and Jerry Paul Knopp of Newport; six grandchildren, Tammy Lynn Bowen, Thomas Lee Knopp, Everett DuWayne Knopp, Paula Wells, Blake Stoner, and Kelley Stoner; two great-grandchildren. Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday 5:30 to 7 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home with interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
