Johnnie Sarlo, 75, of Mabelvale was born October 22, 1940 in Little Rock, Arkansas and passed away at his home on Sunday, February 7, 2016. He was raised in the logging industry and raised his sons with that same love and appreciation of the environment and the value of renewable timber resources. He embraced progress, yet appreciated the history of the logging industry. Consequently, he used mechanized equipment, but also continued to use horse and mules in logging as his father and grandfather had done in the past. John was a lover of military history which he read and studied intently and extensively. He was engaging, funny, and interesting to talk with on many subjects. He had a wide variety of interests d was extremely curious about knowledge of any type. He loved to tell a story, yet appreciated the stories of others. Johnnie was a Sunday School Superintendent of Vimy Ridge Missionary Baptist Church for many years. He was always ready to teach and fill in wherever needed. Johnny instilled these Christian values in his children, they will deeply miss him. John was a quiet man who valued, loved and cared for his family. He treasured the relationships of his extended family of employees, aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends he made along life's way. He will be missed. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Minnie Sarlo. He is survived by his wife Carol Sarlo and children Jayson A. Sarlo (Kristi) and John Kyle Sarlo (Jo) of Mabelvale.
