Jim J. Orsini departed this life on February 23, 2016. He was born May 10, 1924 in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of Maria and Serafino Orsini. He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his sister, Leona Olivo; three brothers, Ed Orsini, Joe Orsini and Andrew Orsini. He was survived by his two sons and their wives, Dr. Jim A. Orsini (Nina), Tom T. Orsini (Mary); one granddaughter, Erin Balthasar (Frank) of North Carolina; one great-granddaughter, Sofia Balthasar; and his most beloved friend and partner of over 50 years, Janis V. Moseley. Jim graduated from North Little Rock High School and attended the University of Arkansas. During World War II, he served three years in the Navy as a corpsman, two of which were on several islands in the South Pacific where he made three amphibious assault landings. In 1951, Jim opened the Little Rock office of the F.W. Dodge Corporation, which eventually became a division of McGraw Hill Information Systems Company. He was also simultaneously active in real estate and investments, retiring in 1989. Early in life, Jim loved flying, first as a Navy Search and Rescue crew member, and later as a civilian pilot. However, golf soon took precedence over other activities and most of his free time was spent on the links of Pleasant Valley Country Club where he soon found some of the best friends of his life. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Msg. Allen Trust Fund at Holy Souls Catholic Church or to charity of your choice. Arrangements made by Roller-Chenal Funeral Homes, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas 72211, (501) 224-8300.
