Elaine Meyer, 64, of Tontitown, died June 27 at Northwest Medical Center of Springdale from complications related to cancer. She was diagnosed about a year ago and remained optimistic until the end. She found comfort in prayer. She was born and raised in Andrews, Indiana, but claimed Northwest Arkansas as home. She came up showing horses and serving as a 4-H leader, enjoyed nothing more than a hard day's work and had a real soft spot for animals. At her death, she worked at Orscheln Farm & Home. Her given name was Martha Elaine Theobald; she was one of four children of the late Dallas and Elizabeth Theobald. She also was preceded in death by her beloved siblings, sister Carlene Jackson and brothers J.D. Theobald and LaMoine Theobald. She leaves a circle of companions, co-workers and a "second family" headed by Betty Hinshaw of Springdale and the late Sunny Hinshaw, a devoted friend. In Indiana, she leaves to mourn her: brother-in-law, Guy Jackson; two nieces, Kelly Jones and Karen Johnson; sister-in-law, Julie Theobald; three nephews, Kyle Theobald, Steven Theobald and Jay Theobald; and former husband Bill Meyer. A memorial service will be held for our friend and loved one at 9 a.m. Friday, July 8, at the lake at Rocking Chair Ranch, 2150 South Barrington Road, in Tontitown. Arrangements are being handled by Westfield Chapel.
