James A. Cooley

James A. Cooley, 74, of Bald Knob, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 25, 2016 at his home. He was born December 5, 1941 in Bald Knob a son of the late Sampson and Elza Ward Cooley. James was a farmer and a well known strawberry grower for many years. He enjoyed selling produce at his home. He faithfully attended the First Baptist Church in Bald Knob and was a long time member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Cooley was a retired member, and former Chief of the Bald Knob Fire Department having served 23 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as his many coffee drinking friends at the Market Cafe'. He is survived by his son, Barry Cooley (Pam); grandchildren, Jeslyn Haynes (Cody) and Kaelin Martin (Ben); great-grandchildren, Collin and Carter Haynes; his special friend for many years, Carol Bennett; brother, Russell Edwards (Laverne); sisters, Linda Norris (Alvis) and Lou McKamey (James) as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Jamey Cooley and a brother, Doyle Edwards. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel.
