CHESTER WAYNE VANDIVER, 73, of Mabelvale, passed away July 28, 2016. He was born on July 20, 1943 in Prim, Ark. to Roy and Eva Vandiver. Chester retired at 60 years of age after working for the Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and served in the United States Army as a Sargent and Survivalist Specialist. Chester loved fishing, animals and making things out of wood. Chester is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife and soul mate, Rita Kay Vandiver; two children, Leah Dague, Michael Vandiver; two step children, Shelly Powell, Mindy Darner; three siblings: Velma Johnson, Jean Ross, Sis Flanagan; and five grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 1, 2016 in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Forest Hills, 10200 Hwy 5 N., Alexander, Ark. Graveside services will follow Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in Forest Hills Cemetery. Following the graveside service, there will be a Celebration of Life at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 6200 Aerie Street, Little Rock, Ark., 501-562-0876.
