Dominic Anthony Santarone

Dominic "Dom" Anthony Santarone of Perryville, died May 30, 2016. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on May 31, 1925, one of six children born to Lucy and Nicholas Santarone. He served as a corporal in the 1st Marine Division in Okinawa, Japan during WWII (1943-46) and the Korean War (1953-56). From the 1960s to the 1980s, Dom and his late wife, Ruth, owned a catering company where they worked out of Hollywood, "on location," providing meals to cast and crew during the filming of more than 50 movies and television shows. Dom was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Having resided in Thornburg, AR since the 1970s, he was known for being a skilled card player, and enjoyed coin collecting, cooking, gardening and watching Spaghetti Westerns. Dom was beloved by his sisters, Marie Savoy (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Joyce Powalowski (Philadelphia, Pa.), and his brothers who preceded him in death, Teddy, Charles and Albert. He was a generous and loving stepfather to Juanita Granger (Thornburg, Ark.), Kathleen Cameron (West Palm Beach, Fla.), and two who preceded him in death, Dr. Robert Westerfield and Margaret Floyd. His 12 grandchildren delighted in his tractor rides, July 4th fireworks and sense of humor: Amy Peck, Juliet Moore, Morgan Floyd, Christine Westerfield, Marissa Westerfield-Williams, Kathryn Westerfield, Davina Jordan, Jason Granger, Russell Granger, Kimberly Walther, Michelle Cameron and Chuck Hildenbrand. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to 11 great-grandkids. Private burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
