Marjorie (Marge) Nelson, 95, of Garfield, Arkansas, died June 24, 2016, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. She was born October 26, 1920. Preceding her in death was her husband, William H Nelson. She was born in the very small town of Custer Oklahoma, where the only fear she knew was her mother's discipline. During WWII she enlisted in the Women's Army Corps in which she served for three years. She was in Paris for the liberation of France from German forces. After her service she moved to Arizona where she met a young fighter pilot. They married. Her life as an air force wife included many travels and three children, Judith, Barbara, and Bob. Her last stop in the Air Force was Wichita, Kan. From there "Nels" was sent to Vietnam where he was shot down in July of 1966 and declared MIA. A period of great uncertainty was followed by a "change in status" declaration to KIA in 1974. In 1969 she first discovered Beaver Lake and bought a vacation home. Marge loved Beaver Lake and moved there permanently in 1978. Marge is survived by her children, Judith Nelson and husband Larry Beal of Arizona, Barbara Turner and husband Scott of Garfield, Bob Nelson and wife Denise of Kansas; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews, who were all precious to her. Mom always put others before herself, was an anchor for her children through good times and bad, and believed in service to her community and church. Her memory will be cherished by all of us. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Lost Bridge Community Church. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Lost Bridge Community Church or to Circle of Life Hospice. Arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers. Online condolences may be made at www.rollinsfuneral.com.
