George W. Wheeler, 74, of Mabelvale passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016. He was born in Cotton Plant, Ark. on February 18, 1942 to William Thomas and Gladys R. (Rutledge) Wheeler. George was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He served in the United States Army and was a retired truck driver. Survivors include his daughters, Lori Croy (Chris) of Mabelvale, Ark., Georgia Brown of Dallas, Texas; sons, Steve Slack of Long Beach, Calif., Nick Slack (Robin) of Little Rock, Ark. and Donald Slack of Oklahoma; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 48 years, Linda D. Wheeler, two sisters and one brother. Visitation will be this evening, Tuesday, March 1 from 5-7 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, March 2 at 11 a.m. at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery with Dr. Bob Dunaway officiating.
