Billy (Bill) Ray McGinnis

Billy (Bill) Ray McGinnis, 86, of Springdale, died March 8, 2016 at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born March 4, 1930 in Glade, Arkansas to Simon Everett and Annie Agnew McGinnis. He attended school in Rogers, Arkansas and married the love of his life, Martha Jo Davis on August 4, 1950. Bill was an Army veteran serving his country as a Tech Sergeant during the Korean War then moved California. He and his wife moved back home to Northwest Arkansas they purchased the Springdale Sport Shop which they operated for many years. He was an avid and expert fisherman and also worked as a guide, both on Beaver Lake and several lakes in Florida after his retirement. He also found time to coach Little League, Babe Ruth and American Legion baseball. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth McGinnis of Florida and his loving wife, Martha Jo, just five days earlier. Bill is survived by his son, David and wife, Marietta, of Springdale, daughter, Mindi Popalisky and husband, Bob, of Fayetteville, as well as grandchildren, Jason Popalisky, Teer Popalisky, Will McGinnis and great-granddaughter, Olivia. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Cross Church Chapel in Springdale on Friday, March 11. Full military honors and burial to follow at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
