Father Milton R. Lange

Father Milton R. Lange, a Catholic priest in the Diocese of Little Rock, died on May 13, 2016 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1919, Father Lange was educated at Holy Angels Parochial School and Boy's Trade and Technical High School in Milwaukee. He studied at the University of Wisconsin (Madison) and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering in 1943. Father Lange entered St. John Home Mission Seminary, Little Rock, and was ordained a Catholic priest on May 31, 1952. His assignments included Catholic High School for Boys, and temporarily as Chaplain for St. Joseph's Orphanage, North Little Rock. He later became full-time professor at Catholic High School, Little Rock. In 1966 he was placed in charge of the Mission Church of St. Jude the Apostle, in Jacksonville, Arkansas, and later made pastor of the same Church. In 1970 he was named pastor of St. Raphael's Church, Springdale, and after a three year assignment as pastor of Christ the King Church, Fort Smith, he returned to St. Raphael's in 1983 and remained pastor until his retirement in 1996. Even in retirement, Father Lange was a faithful priest to the parishioners of St. Raphael's. Survivors include his family, Paul Fredrich and wife Patricia of Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin, Stephen Fredrich and wife June of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jeffrey Frederick and wife Clara of Florida, Linda Hecher and husband John of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Craig Friedrich and wife Kathleen of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and Keith Fredrich of Flint, Michigan, Mary Fredrich of Grand Blanc, Michigan; and many other relatives and friends. A Vigil service will be prayed at St. Raphael's on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated on Friday, May 27, at 10 a.m. with Father John Connell, present pastor of St. Raphael's as presider and homilist.
