Buel Duane Alvis

Buel Duane Alvis, 82 of Springdale, went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2016. He was born Nov. 07, 1933 in Johnsonville, Ill., the son of the late Buel and Amy Greene Alvis. He was a member of the Cave Springs Church of Christ and had served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked and retired after for 30 years as a Mail Carrier and Clerk for the U.S. Postal Service and later worked in the maintenance department of the Morning News. He was an avid Dobro player and Blue Grass musician. Mr. Alvis was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Ann Alvis; three brothers, Lee, Gilbert and Keith; three sisters, Lucille, Naomi and Marilyn and one great-grandson, Luke Alvis. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Faye Johnson Alvis of the home; three sons, Gilbert Alvis and Geraldine of Tontitown, Ark., Les Alvis of Springdale, Ark., and Darin Alvis of Rogers, Ark.; one daughter, Rhonda Dorethy and Jim of Mountain Home, Ark; three sisters, Juanita DePriest and Eula Merrill, both of California and Nancy Franklin of Nowata, Okla., eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Elm Springs Cemetery with Steve Shenerer and Travis Harbin officiating, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, 3926 Willowood Ave. Springdale, Ark. 72762.
