Muriel Ray Sperduto (b. April 3, 1924, d. October 26, 2016). Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she passed away peacefully on October 26, 2016 at age 92 in Springfield, Virginia. Born April 3, 1924 in West Fork, Arkansas. Preceded in death by her parents Sylvia Stockburger Ray and Charlie Ellis Ray and her brothers Charles Hoyt Ray and Maurice Lee Ray. Survived by her loving husband of 66 years, the Rev. Dr. Theodore (Dr. Ted) C. Sperduto, children Gary (Susan), Kim (Marsha), Paul (Jody) and Teddi Dawn, nine adoring grandchildren, Adam (Brooke), Sarah (John), Paul (Erica), Isabella (Andy), Charlie, Sophie, Luke (Sofia), Maria and William and three great-grandchildren, Jack, Kate and Aden. After graduating with BS and MS degrees in Home Economics and Early Childhood Education from the University of Arkansas, she taught those subjects at the University of Arkansas and Oklahoma A & M, now known as Oklahoma State University. On September 3, 1950, she married Ted after a three-month courtship. Together they served Presbyterian churches and communities in Albany, Missouri (1952-55), Olathe, Kansas (1955-66), Wyoming, Ohio (1966-75), Westfield, New Jersey (1975-1979). They retired to Annandale, Virginia in 1980. Muriel will be remembered for her compassion and selfless commitment to family, church and community. She loved to cook, read, quilt but most of all, spend time with family. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church, 3115 P St. NW, Washington DC 20007.
