Anna Faye Harris, 94 of Mayflower, Ark. passed away Tuesday November 8, 2016. She was born on November 10, 1921 to Hobart & Maggie Proffitt of Hico, Texas. Ann graduated for Hobbs, New Mexico High School in 1939. She left Hobbs for a short time and attended a Local Business school in Lubbock, Texas. She quickly landed a job in the US Post Office on Hobbs Air Force Base, in New Mexico. The Post Office is where she met a handsome airman name James Harris. Through the years she worked by her husband's side, sewing, gardening, raising turkeys, goats, cows, sheep & pigs. The Texas drought made farming extremely hard so they moved to Arkansas in 1958 to try farming in better conditions, Farm life was still very hard so they moved once again. She took a job in a local grocery store and Jim took a job as a carpenter on the Missile Base in the area. A new opportunity came their way in 1964. They bought a grocery store in Mayflower and once again were able to work together. After being on the road helping to build churches for 10 years she was ready to serve in her local church home. Ann served on the kitchen committee and was well known far and wide as the "bread lady". She baked twelve loaves at a time whenever needed. Ann never met a stranger and took great pride in taking care of people. Once you were in her home you felt welcome and a life connection was made. Ann set an example of God's love in every area of her life-her family truly had a road map for serving the Lord just by watching her as they grew. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years James F. Harris, her daughter Judy A (Harris) Gentry, her parents and four brothers. She is survived by one son, Gary Harris (Luola) of Mayflower, Ark., one daughter, Kay Stacy (Marc) of Jacksonville, Ark. and one sister, Josie Mae (Proffitt) Wilson of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Ann has six grandchildren, Preston Gentry (Sheri) of Arlington, Texas, Kara Coval (Greg) of Scranton, Pa., Eric Harris (Emma) of Winchester, Va., Bryan Harris (Amanda) of Conway, Ark., Ashley Bell (Joshua) of Damascus, Ark., Whitney Weir (Brian) Royse City, Texas; 12 great-grandchildren: Chase & Bailey Gentry, Cody Boggs, Lauren, Owen & Dillon Harris, Mallory Harris, Evan, Audrey & Daphne Bell and Natalie & Joaquin Weir and one Great Great Grandson Brock Entwisle- Gentry. Visitation will be Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Mayflower. Funeral Service will be Friday, November 11, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Church with Burial following at Mayflower Cemetery. Online Guestbook available at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/conway.
