Irene Baker

Irene Baker, formerly of Springdale, Ark., died November 15, 2016, in Tulsa, Okla. She was born September 25, 1923, in Iriquois County, Ill., to Marquis and Nellie Bradford Heindselman. Irene was a bookkeeper/cashier at Stanley's IGA in Springdale for many years. She was active in her church (First Christian Church (now Spring Creek Fellowship)) in Springdale as a deaconess, hand bell choir member, treasurer and an active participant in church life in general. She loved working in her garden and attracting birds to her yard. She married William C. Baker in 1943, who preceded her in death in 2000. One brother, five sisters and her parents also preceded her. She is survived by three children: Donald Baker of Tulsa, Okla.; Bruce Baker (Diane) of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Linda (Robert) Hoyt of Rogers, Ark. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Julie Hoyt of St. Louis, Mo., Wendy Hoyt (Dustin Coyle) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Scott (Jennifer) Baker of Glenpool, Okla., Daniel Baker (Shanna), of Houston, Texas, and Kevin Baker of Tulsa, Okla.; in addition to six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Spring Creek Fellowship with Pastor Rick Grace officiating, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, 3926 Willowood Ave., Springdale, Arkansas 72762. Burial will follow in Elm Springs Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Spring Creek Fellowship, Springdale, in lieu of flowers.
