Larry Curtis Mitchell

Dr. Larry Curtis Mitchell age 68, died at his home on Friday November 18, 2016. At the time of his death Larry had served as pastor of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church in Forrest City for six years. Prior to that he had served churches in Georgia, Arkansas, Missouri, Texas and North Carolina. Dr. Mitchell was born October 9, 1948 in Frankfort, Kentucky. He was the son of Leonard Mitchell and Catherine Brawner Mitchell. He had served, as a Presbyterian minister for most all of his life, was a member of the Forrest City Rotary Club and a member of the American Red Cross. Dr. Mitchell received his Masters of Divinity from Columbia Presbyterian Seminary in Decatur, Georgia and Doctorate of Ministry from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Dr. Mitchell married his wife Janice in 1989 and she survives him along with his mother, Catherine Mitchell of Decatur, Georgia; a stepdaughter, Ashley Bermingham and husband Jason of Little Rock, along with a granddaughter, Mary Parker Bermingham. A sister, Alesse Caye of Decatur also survives him. A memorial service will be held at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church, 402 East Dillard Avenue, Forrest City, Arkansas, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, with reception to follow at Pettus Hall in the Church. General Presbyter Stewart Smith and Dr. David Dyer will be officiating the service.
