Veetaugh L. Roper, age 92, of White Hall, Ark., died Thursday, September 29, at J.R.M.C. Born January 2, 1924, in Harrell, Ark., to the late Vollie Roper and Dora Davis Roper he joined the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. V.L. worked for International Paper Company for 31 years retiring in 1989. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Roper Deer Club in Harrell, Ark. He also enjoyed camping and fishing for crappie and catfish. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Jody Roper and sister, Louella Cox. Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Helen Cruse Roper whom he married March 10, 1949. One son, Gary Roper of White Hall, Ark.; two daughters, Sharon Place and spouse Jack of White Hall, Ark. and Debra Roper of Sheridan, Ark.; one brother, Roddy Roper of Enterprise, Utah; two grandchildren, Jason Place and spouse Jennifer of Woodlawn, Ark., and Andrea Place of Los Angeles, Calif.; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Southerland, Chloe Place, and Paisley Place of Woodlawn, Ark. Graveside service is 2 p.m. Monday October 3, at Union Grove Cemetery near Harrell, Ark., by Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren. Visitation: 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, October 2, at Frazer's.
