Terry D. Sarver, 78, of London passed away on Tuesday at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home. Terry was born on June 14, 1938 to Alvin and Louise Sarver in Newport, Penn. He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Illinois where, as an outstanding linebacker, he was nicknamed "Tubbs" for Jerry Tubbs, a 1957 NFL Round one draft pick. Terry was inducted into the United States Army in 1961, and did his basic training at Ft. Sam Hood in Texas as a Medic. His time in the service was extended due to the Bay of Pigs Invasion. After his military service, he was a salesman for the Lorillard Tobacco Company in Birmingham, Ala. When he moved to Nashville, Tenn., he was a sales representative with Pet Milk. As a sponsor representative, he spent many nights in a front row seat or on stage at the Grand Ole Opry in the old Ryman Auditorium. He later joined Tyson Foods as an account executive for McDonalds working in the Corporate Office in Springdale overseeing both the national and international sales. He traveled the country extensively in this position and made many trips abroad. Before his illness, Terry and Nan enjoyed travelling in their motor coach, visiting 48 states with Terry at the wheel. He rarely missed a Razorback football or basketball game whether at home or on the road. He was known by many as "The Chef" in reference to his cooking skills. He was an avid gardener, bowler and golfer participating yearly in a Pro-Am tournament. He became passionate about surf fishing along the Gulf Coast and could be found there every winter with Nan and his friends. The four legged friends that helped complete his life, Muffin, Pooh, Woodie and Winnie, travelled and fished as many miles as he did. Survivors include "his bride" of 35 years, Nan; his step-daughter, whom he loved enormously, Katherine (Kitty) Carswell of Russellville; one brother, Don Sarver of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Jay Noble of Chandler, Okla. and Dixy and George Dixon of Tulsa, Okla.; two nieces and one nephew, all of Oklahoma. The memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2016 at the Shinn Chapel, with Rev. Ron Raines officiating and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home, 220 John Babish Lane, Russellville, Ark. 72801.
