Mike Shumpert, 68, of Redfield, died Saturday, October 15, 2016 doing what he loved, attending a Razorback football game with his family. Born John Michael Shumpert June 1, 1948 in Memphis, Tennessee, he was the son of James H. and Mamie Spencer Shumpert. Mr. Shumpert was reared and received his early education in Memphis, Tennessee, graduating from Overton High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mike worked for Walgreens for 38 years, retiring as a store manager. He was a member of Harvest Time Church of White Hall. Mike loved spending time with his family, going to Razorback games and traveling to Disney World. When his kids were young, Mike was a regular at his kids' games. He also rarely missed a chance to go to Disney World, traveling there over 30 times either with his kids or just on an adult trip with his wife and friends. Mike made regular trips to Razorback games. Despite his health battles, Mike lived life to the fullest and tried to spend as much quality time with his family as possible. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Don and Doug Shumpert. Survivors include his wife, Nettie Stanley Shumpert of Redfield; three sons, Michael Shumpert (Maria) of Memphis, Tennessee, Adam Shumpert (Carmen) of Fayetteville and Doug Shumpert (Sheilah) of North Little Rock; daughter, Tiffany Shumpert of Fayetteville; sister, Beverly Kessler of Memphis, Tennessee; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Harvest Time Church with Pastor Harry Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
