Rita Lynette Clark Swaffar passed away peacefully on October 15, 2016 after a long and valiant struggle with ill health. Rita was born in rural Faulkner County on May 14, 1934, to Edna Blythe and Kenneth Clark who predeceased her. She graduated from Quitman High School and married her childhood sweetheart, Billee Joe Swaffar, a long-time rancher and businessman in Cleburne County. They enjoyed a loving and devoted partnership for 63 years. Their son Jody has two daughters, Lauryn Swaffar and Madisyn Strain (Daniel). Their daughter, Jayme Johnson (David) has two sons, Sawyer (Kati) and Walker Johnson. Her grandchildren were the source of the greatest joy for her. She is also survived by a sister, Delores Clark of Heber Springs and a brother, Max Clark of Sherwood, as well as nephews, Ron Clark, Ken Clark and Clark Davis and two nieces, Angie Harrod and Sharron Cato. Rita was an energetic and resourceful woman who kept pride in her family and her home. She was a devoted and generous friend to many and a devout founding member of the Pines Baptist Church in community of Pearson. After a successful career in various positions in Cleburne County for many years, she successfully ran for Treasurer of Cleburne County where she remained until her retirement in 1996. She was active in the Cleburne County Master Gardeners and enjoyed tending to her beautiful gardens until she became ill. Her dynamic presence and quick wit will be missed by all who were privileged to know her. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Pines Baptist Church on HWY 25, 5 miles east of Quitman, Arkansas. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Church. Interment will follow at Pearson Cemetery in Pearson, Arkansas.
