Jacob Monroe Bishop, 23, of Monticello, Ark., formerly of Dumas passed away October 22, 2016 in Pine Bluff. He was born October 5, 1993 in Pine Bluff, Ark. to John Edward Bishop Jr. and Carla Jean Sams Brainard. Jacob was a member of Basically Church in Dumas, a 2012 graduate of Dumas High School and 2015 graduate of UAM with Associate degree in Ag Business and BA in Physical Education. Jacob loved sports, was always willing to coach young kids, from conditioning to get ready for the next year to batting practice. He was always there and happy to do it. He is survived by his parents: John Bishop Jr. of Dumas, mother and step-father: Carla and Meigs Brainard of Monticello, paternal grandmother and step-grandfather: Lila Bishop and Dennis Freeman of Dumas, maternal grandmother: Elva Courtney of Halley, three brothers: Johnathan Bishop of McGehee, Jase Bishop of Dumas, Brannon Brainard of Monticello, two stepbrothers: Nicholas and Patrick Brainard both of Pine Bluff and fiance', Cesilee Bixler. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John E. Bishop and gaternal great-grandmother, Erma Hoyt: maternal grandfather and grandmother, Calvin and Dora Irons also by two aunts, Rhonda Bishop and Amber Hackett. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 26 at First Assembly of God Church in Dumas from 6-8 p.m. and service, Thursday, October 27, at First Baptist Church in Dumas at 2 p.m. with burial following at Walnut Lake Cemetery with Rev. Dubs Byers and Rev. Scott Gilbreth officiating. Memorials may be made in memory of Jacob to the National Kidney Foundation, 1818 N. Taylor St. #18, Little Rock, Ark. 72207.
