John Randolph McDuffie

John Randolph McDuffie, 91, died at Ouachita Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on October 25, 2016. He was born December 31, 1924 to George T. and Carrie Gill McDuffie, the fifth of six children born of that union. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers and sisters, Orville McDuffie (Marie), Laverne Thomas (Frank), Georgia Lee Stanley (Charles), William "Bunk" McDuffie and Lillie Bell McLendon (Billy). He was also predeceased by four half-brothers from his father's first marriage to Ida Gee McDuffie, Commie McDuffie (Ocie), Warren McDuffie (Thelma), Jennings Bryan (J.B.) McDuffie (Edna) and Simpson McDuffie (Myrtle). John was survived by numerous nieces and nephews, but had no immediate survivors. He was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church, attended public schools at Snyder and Portland, Ark. and graduated from the University of Houston. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the Army as a paratrooper in Europe and with the U.S. Air Force as a Navigator after the war. He retired with the rank of Major (disabled) in 1966. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A military graveside service will be held at Beech Creek Cemetery at Snyder 2 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016.
