Jimmie Dale Mode, 80, of Greenbrier passed from this life on Saturday, September 3, 2016, one day before his 81st birthday. He was born September 4, 1935 in Conway, Arkansas to the late J.D. Mode and Dalhia H. Mode. He attended Conway Public Schools and was a 1953 graduate of Conway High School. He was a career state employee. He retired after 32 years of service to our state. The majority of his career was in the Auditor of State's office. He was employed by several Auditors of State including the late J. Oscar Humphrey, the late F. Nolan Humphrey and the late Jimmie "Red" Jones. His years of service concluded with employment in the State Treasurer's Office. Concurrently with state employment he served 32 years in the Arkansas Army National Guard retiring at the rank of Sergeant Major. He was a Baptist. He loved his Lord and demonstrated his faith and love for the Lord in his daily life. He always wanted to be and was a part of the church fellowship. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He always put family and friends first. No one could have been more helpful in so many ways to whoever needed help. His wonderful laugh and sense of humor made him welcome in every situation. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 48 1/2 years, Ann H. Mode, a son, James Nolan Mode (Stephanie) of Edmond, Okla.; granddaughters, Madisen Shea Mode and Emma Ann Mode of Edmond, Okla.; two daughters, Jeanette Stell (Sammy) and Deby Shuptrine (Darrell), their children and grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bishop-Crites Funeral Home in Greenbrier. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Bishop-Crites Chapel in Greenbrier with Bro. Freddie Mark Wilcox and Bro. Danny Fagala officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Cemetery in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Phillip Austin, Virgil Crowder, Mark Gunter, Steve Gunter, Larry Nelson, Tony Nelson, Jim Ruple and Danny Watson. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddy Ayers, H.L. Crawford, Roy Gunter, Sherman Murray and Ferrell Roberts. In lieu of flower, the family requests that memorials in his name be made to the charity of your choice.
