Christine Melinda Laney, 57, passed on September 20, 2016 in Hot Springs, Arkansas with family by her side. Christine was born April 5, 1959 to Pamella Arlene (Dobbs) Troy and Devilla Willard Troy. She was a wife of 10 years to Robert S. Laney. In 1977, Christine graduated from North Little Rock Northeast High School. Christine continued on to co-own and operate her family's hog farm with her former husband, as well as their own catering business. Christine managed for many years at Arkansas State Fair's Pork Producer Food tent and also co-owned Brady Mountain Restaurant with her husband, Robert. Of all her notable career highlights and accomplishments, being a loving and supportive mother to her children was of which she was most proud. Christine is survived by her children, daughter Heather (Schroeder) Harbach and her spouse Ben Harbach, Jr.; son, Christopher Schroeder and his spouse Jenny Schroeder; daughter Sarah Schroeder and partner Larry Sears, Jr.; five grandchildren, Reagan, Hazel, Sadie, Sophie, and Ella, not including the little one on the way from daughter, Sarah; grandmother, Alice Dobbs; brother, James Troy and his spouse, Hope; brother Kelly Troy and his partner Dale; sister, Arlene (Troy) Hughes; former husband of 25 years and father to her children, Randy Schroeder; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and countless friends. Christine is preceded in death by her parents and grandfather, Arthur Dobbs. Christine was known to be her happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Cooking, gardening, phone calls from loved ones, and spending time with animals were some of her favorite pastimes. You could bet that a hot meal, a glass of cold iced tea, and a warm conversation awaited you while in her company. Her open heart touched many lives through her connections, daily life, and contagious spirit. She will be remembered and missed dearly by not only family and friends, but also her community. The family is saddened, yet grateful, to announce she has found Heavenly peace. Visitation will be held at 12 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22nd at First United Methodist Church, 1100 Central Avenue, Hot Springs, Ark. 71901. Memorial gifts in her memory can be sent to Garland County Animal Shelter to support and love the animals just as Christine always did. Guests may register at www.caruth-hale.com.
