Jewell Dean (Hooten) Karber, 89, of Quitman passed away Friday, September 23, 2016. She was born February 13, 1927 in Guy, AR to the late Ernest E. and Daphne E. (Thorn) Hooten. Jewel was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James Noel Karber, brother, Herbert Hooten, and sister, Shirley Ann Hooten. Jewell was of the Church of Christ of faith and retired from Westinghouse-Phillips Electric after 33 years of employment. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, skiing, fishing, and gardening. Jewell was a good homemaker and the hub of her family. She had a gift of hospitality and loved serving others. Jewel is survived by her daughter, Linda Hearn of Quitman, Ark., granddaughter, Deb Schueren-Bloomer (Bo) of Arlington, Va., grandson, Allen Schueren (Denise) of Heber Springs, Ark., great-grandchildren, Chance, and Hope Schueren, and Vlad and Aya Bloomer, brother, Clark Hooten (Faye) of Guy, foster brother, Curtis Burgess (Martha) of Guy, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday September 25th at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
