Mrs. Doris Ann Morton of Texarkana, passed away at her home, Tuesday, September 27, 2016. She was born in Alicia, Arkansas on October 26, 1932, to the deceased William Charles Gaskin and Melva Gaskin. The family moved to Arkadelphia where she graduated from High School and attended Henderson College. There she met her husband Robert "Bob" Morton. They married and later moved to Austin, Texas where he served in the U.S Air Force until they relocated to Hope. They eventually settled in Texarkana for the past 50 years where she was a member of First United Methodist Church. Talented and artistic, Doris enjoyed painting and had a natural sense of style and design. She worked for many years at Hubbard, Patton, and Peek Law Firm and after retiring put her talents to use practicing interior decorating. She was a delightful person who was witty, humorous, warm, vivacious and very caring. She always helped anyone in any way she could. She was known by family and friends for taking in any stray animal she saw no matter how many were in the household. Doris is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Morton, two sons and their wives Scott and Carolyn Morton, Murray and Dana Morton all of Texarkana, two sisters Margaret Campbell of Pensacola, Florida, Bonnie McDonald of Hot Springs and one brother William "Bill" Gaskin of Arkadelphia, one grandson, Randy Rape and his wife Tara of Texarkana, and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 12 Noon, Saturday, September 31, 2016 at The First United Methodist Church in Texarkana officiated by Reverend Bruce Bennett. The family will receive friends at the church following the services. Because of Doris's huge love for animals, memorials may be made to: The Humane Society, ASPCA, or the local animal shelter.
